Please join us on Saturday June 21, 2025 for the innaugural Buffalo Urban League 5K Run/Walk at the Buffalo Outer Harbor. The event will start and finish at Lakeside Lawn along the shore of Lake Erie. We are actively seeking sponsorships, team fundraising and individual donations in support of the Buffalo Urban League.

Our mission is to help African Americans and others in underserved communities achieve their highest true social parity, economic self-reliance, power, and civil rights.
The League promotes economic empowerment through education and job training, housing and community development, workforce development, entrepreneurship, health, and quality of life.
START/FINISH
The event will take place at Lakeside Lawn on the Buffalo Outer Harbor. Runners will enjoy a scenic run/walk along the Buffalo waterfront. There will be one water station located along the course and bottled water will be provided to all participants at the finish line. The 5K Run/Walk will start at 9am using USATF certified course #NY24004JJ.

REGISTRATION & PACKET PICKUP
Online registration will remain open right up until race day. Packet pickup will take place at Lakeside Lawn Park from 8:00am until the start of the event at 9am. 5K participants who register by Friday June 13th at 9am will be guaranteed to receive an official event shirt in their requested size. A small quantity of extra shirts will be ordered and distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis until they are gone.

Virtual Registration Option
Can't make the race... Participate virtually! Simply sign up for the Virtual Race option and you get to choose the location and time to get out on your own and run/walk your 5K between 6/1/25 and 7/1/25. Feel free to use the FREE IYR Virtual App to track and score your run. You will also be able to manually enter your finish time directly to the IYR Results Page starting on 6/1/25 and ending on 8/1/25. We will automatically mail out your event shirt the week after the race (Continental USA only for shipping).
FUNDRAISING
We invite participants to consider creating a fundraising team to help raise funds for the Buffalo Urban League. A staple in our community, touching over 100,000 individuals each year.
The Buffalo Urban League is a multifaceted organization founded in 1927, to address education, ecoonomic and social issues in the Buffalo Niagara Reagion currently operating out of five locations in the city of Buffalo.

POST RACE CELEBRATION
The post race celebration and awards ceremony will take place after the race. Participants will enjoy light food/snacks along with bottled water, music, and more.
PARKING
Parking is available along Furhmann Boulevard and in a newly-paved event parking lot. For GPS navigation to the parking lot entrance, use the address 869 Fuhrmann Boulevard, Buffalo, NY 14203.
AGE GROUPS & AWARDS
Trophies will be presented to the 1st place overall male and female 5K finishers. Age group winners will also be announced and presented with a gift item TBD. All runners can print custom certificates and view finish line photos from the results page after the race.
14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and older.

CANCELLATION POLICY
In the event of foul weather, public safety concerns, or for any other reason deemed necessary by race organizers (ex: state of emergency, shelter-in-place, limit on social gatherings, etc), we want runners to know up front that we reserve the right to reschedule the event OR convert this to a virtual 5K race. There will be no refunds.
TIMING & FINISH LINE SERVICES
Professional timing and finish line services using industry leading Jaguar Electronic RFID timing will be provided by Race Management Solutions. Results are updated throughout the race in real time and can be accessed at any time after crossing the finish line using any one of the following options:
